Sam & Darren – A Sneak Peek!

Shortly before Christmas I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Sam & Darren in the Cotswolds.

It was a beautiful sunny winters day as Kiti & I headed to the picturesque village of Broadway. The wedding was held in the historical hotel The Lygon Arms. It is a beautiful building in honey-coloured Cotswold stone & looked wonderful in the sunshine.

The first hotel on the site was documented in 1532. Their service was held in the wonderful Great Hall with the sunlight streaming through the windows & Sam was accompanied up the aisle by her very proud Dad. I love this image of Darren seeing his bride, I think his smile says it all….

067-SDC-KS-IMG_5767-27 It was a lovely wedding with inspiration from the season. Darren & his groomsmen had stylish tweed suits accented by ruby red ties & pocket squares.

Sam wore a gorgeous short dress with lace overlay & carried a beautiful bouquet of dark crimson roses. She also wore a fantastic pair of Jimmy Choos!

The Lygon Arms provided a stunning backdrop for the bride & groom photographs with the warm Cotswold stone frontage, Tudor timbers & a lovely garden.

Congratulations Sam & Darren, wishing you every happiness for married life together

Pinterest – A Recent Project…..

A recent project at Mark Lord Photography has been to start a Pinterest page. For any of you who are not yet aware of it Pinterest is a social media site used for the collating of images. Loved by anyone who loves the visual, it’s a great way of gathering ideas. As you drift around the web you can ‘pin’ images of the things, everything from wedding flowers to dresses, you see to one central place onto the ‘boards’ you have set up. You can also ‘repin’ images from Pinterest & follow people you admire & their boards. Pinterest can be used to collect images of anything you love or are interested in but has won the heart of many a bride casting their eye around for inspiration. Searching for vintage wedding ideas? All you need to do is type vintage into the task bar & a huge array of images will appear. Another great idea is to type in your venue name, it is always interesting to see how others have decorated the same venue. It’s really simple to use & saves purchasing lots of bridal magazines only to cut them up!

We have set up a few boards & will keep adding more so please take a look at the page here. It’s a really eclectic mix of weddings, my favourite venues, some beautiful dresses & lots more…. Feel free to repin any of my images that inspire you!

If you are already on Pinterest please follow me & my boards, thank you!

I offer outdoor family portrait photography, engagement photography or just portraits of your children playing outdoor and being themselves in my natural and relaxed style. for younger babies and children who are not yet walking it is often easier if we do the shoot in and around your home.

Portrait of Film Director, Amit Gupta

Film Director Amit Gupta recently asked me to do a few portraits of him for his press releases. We spent 15 minutes together getting a few pictures and he recently contacted me to tell me his portrait is in Empire magazine and also one now online.

Amit’s first film that he directed was called Resistance and was set in a Welsh village in WWII, imagining life had the Germans invaded. With a cast including Michael Sheen it is a brilliant art house film and is well worth a watch.

To find out more about Resistance and to watch the trailer please click here

Amit’s latest film I am looking forward to watching is Jadoo the Movie, a British comedy that takes Amit back to his roots of growing up in Leicester. Its about two brothers who are chefs & what happens when they fall out. They set up rival restaurants across the road from each other in the Belgrave Road in Leicester, close to where Amit grew up.

#Henley on Thames Pre-Wedding Shoot

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting up with Kathryn and David who are getting married later this year in Henley with a reception at Hedsor House. With their love of Henley where better a place to have their pre-wedding shoot than by the river Thames. I’m sure when they booked their pre wedding shoot for the end of March they were imagining drifts of golden daffodils and signs of spring all around. However, due to the weather in recent weeks the daffodils were a bit sparse . I still managed to get some fantastic shots of the two of them using some of my favourite locations in and around Henley.

I’m so looking forward to their big day!

Here are a few of the pictures from their shoot…..Henley Photographer 1a Oxfordshire Photographer 2

Family portrait shoot on the farm…

I had the great pleasure of being asked to do some family portrait photography for the family who own and run the The Tythe Barn, Launton. Will’s parents are heading towards their golden wedding anniversary & the family thought it would be lovely to give them a photograph of the three brothers (who grew up on the farm) with their families on this special occasion. So, there we were with brothers, wives & assorted children & Burt the dog in the crisp winter air last Sunday. The Tythe Barn has lovely gardens & grounds & some fantastic architectural features that offer a photographer so many different options for weddings or a family shoot  and we were also able to put the hay bales in Will’s brothers farm to good use too!

#MerryChristmas to you all

It’s another beautiful baby boy, this time just 2 days old!

Recently I had an email from someone who was about to have a baby and wanted some pictures of their new born baby. I was delighted to meet up with the couple and their new addition at their home when little Oscar was just 2 days old. New born baby photography is limiting as to what you can do but still very rewarding and a wonderful time to get some professional pictures taken. Babies change to quickly so it’s important to capture them at different stages of their early lives.

Here are a few pictures from the session I though I would share with you.

#Portrait Photography Offer for just £25.00

With 2012 being such a special year with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and now the #Olympics2012 why not mark such a significant year with a family portrait?

For the rest of this year I am offering 100 portrait voucher for just £25.00 each. Once they are gone they are gone and the vouchers will then be sold at their face value of £75.

This is a great opportunity to get the whole family together for an afternoon to have some fun infront of the camera. The portrait shoot can be done in your home, or nearby location of your choice.  The voucher is valid for 6 months from date of issue so having a portrait session done before Christmas would make ideal gifts to give at Christmas!

The session is relaxed and informal with no set structure or formalality given by me. It will just be fun and enjoyable for everyone, probably a million miles from the portrait sessions you had as a child! Typically the session will last up to 2 hours and in that time I will capture a variety of poses of the whole family, each family group, children together, individuals of the children and even Mum and Dad together! After the shoot we can arrange a suitable time for you to come and view the images and make your selection. With prints starting at just £25 it’s a great way of getting some lovely gifts for your loved ones and something special for yourself!

Please email me at info@marklordphotography.com for more information.
Thank you!
