Just get me to the church on time…… #weddings

The wedding car can be a big part of the day. Don’t panic if you struggle to get into the car in your dress, most brides do and will get in with a little help from their Dad or bridesmaids. If the car has a stereo ask if you can play some music on the way to the church or venue. Record a CD that’s ready to play on the day, some stereos may even accept an iPod! 186-IMG_3814-KSHBut don’t be disappointed if there is no stereo after all many wedding cars are vintage, so long as the wedding car can get you to the church on time!232-IMG_3623-KABThese old cars are not wedding cars you will be pleased to hear! They just happen to be ‘parked’ in the grounds of the fabulous country pub and wedding venue The Crooked Billet. If you are looking for a quiet country pub for your wedding venue that serves the most incredible food then look no further. Kate Winslet even had her wedding reception here!

It’s raining….. So what? #wedding #photography

With the current British weather I’m sure several brides will be worrying about it raining on their wedding day.

Unfortunately this is not something any of us can change and what will be will be. However, a rainy day can make for some stunning photography if everyone is prepared for it. Check with your venue to see what their wet weather plan is, see if they have a load of umbrellas or whether you need to buy some for the bridal party. We bought a job lot of clear umbrellas for our wedding day which thankfully we didn’t really need but it’s one less thing to worry about if you have some. Also, remember the grounds of the reception venue may be waterlogged if there has been flooding or a lot of rainfall. I would suggest getting yourself a couple of pairs of wellies, Hunter do some very trendy ones now so treat yourself to a pair, if you don’t use them on the wedding day then I’m sure they will come in handy another day!

But most of all, don’t let it get you down. Just smile and remember it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day!

#Wedding #Flowers

Your wedding flowers are such a beautiful part of your wedding day, take time to smell your flowers before the wedding service or ceremony, they will help you relax as you will have chosen some of your favourites and maybe they will even remind you of your childhood, parents or grandparents gardens.

Find a few minutes to take in all of the wonderful flowers at your venue and see how spectacular they look. Often the church or venue will smell of the flowers you have chosen. Speak to your florist about your favourite flowers, what is in season and what they are able to get as you plan your big day. Choose flowers that remind you of your loved ones who are perhaps no longer with us.

Some of my favourite florists in the south Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire area are listed below. Check out there websites for more information.

Group photos #photography at #Hedsor House

Hedsor house is a stunning backdrop for your wedding photography. The house is magnificent and the parkland breathtaking, both give a great deal of opportunity for some unique wedding photography. I prefer to do the group photographs in front of the house as the light is generally at it’s best there and the backdrop of the house looks very regal in the wedding pictures! Here is a stylish shot of the bridal party in front of Hedsor house.201-IMG_8260-LCC

I had a recent enquiry for a wedding at Hedsor House and we got talking about the Highland cattle there. It got me looking through some images from a wedding I photographed there a couple of years ago. The highland cattle at Hedsor are a fantastic sight as you drive up to the house and are certainly a talking point for your guests at your wedding. Here is a picture of the lovely Lauren and Chris with one of the cattle in the foreground.

More images from Hedsor house can be seen on this blog by searching Hedsor in the search bar at the top and also on my website http://www.marklordphotography.co.uk

#Bridal #Wedding #Photography at Le Manoir

Living very close to Le Manoir in Oxfordshire I am very lucky to be able to offer wedding photography coverage at Le Manoir. It is a fabulous wedding venue in Oxfordshire and the perfect venue for a smaller wedding. As I am so local I often get enquiries for wedding at Le Manoir and photographed a lovely wedding at Le Manoir last year and will add some images soon to my wedding photography blog. In the meantime here is a bridal photography photograph from Le Manoir that I took a couple of years ago. I love the colour of the brides hair against the wisteria and look forward to working there again soon.

To see more of my wedding photography from Le Manoir and from wedding venues around Thame, Oxford, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Marlow and Henley on Thames please visit my wedding photography gallery on my website.

Portrait Photography Oxford, High Wycombe, Thame, Marlow and Henley On Thames

With signs of Spring just about showing (I’m being very optimistic!), and the phone has started to ring with people wanting to book their family portrait photography , pre wedding shoot, engagement and new born baby photography sessions in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and beyond.

I offer outdoor family portrait photography, engagement photography or just portraits of your children playing outdoor and being themselves in my natural and relaxed style. for younger babies and children who are not yet walking it is often easier if we do the shoot in and around your home.

I shoot many portrait sessions in the local countryside around Marlow, Henley on Thames, Oxford, Thame and High Wycombe but always happy to travel further afield if you wish. With portrait shoots from just £25 my portrait vouchers make great gifts to give to your loved ones, family and friends.

Here are a lovely set of images I shot last summer in the countryside in Aston Rowant near my home with a lovely couple!

A #Ramsbury #Wedding #Wiltshire

A few weeks ago Jack and I were back in Jack’s home village of Ramsbury, Wiltshire. It’s a place very close to my wife & I as that is where we kindled our relationship; over a few coca-colas in the local pub,The Bell. Still that’s another story for another day. In the meantime, a mutual friend of ours and the bride and groom’s recommended me for their wedding photography.

Laurie and Chis are local to Ramsbury and got married in Ramsbury’s Holy Cross Church with a reception at a nearby barn called Wick Bottom Barn near Barbury Castle, Marlborough. The barn is a great venue if you are looking for a blank canvas to put your own stamp on and Laurie and Chris really made it their own. Typically for August we had a few heavy showers but this did not dampen proceedings too much. We managed to do the few group photographs outside of the church and a picture of everyone at the barn, in between showers!! Then the rain stopped for a good half an hour and we nipped off into the nearby Wiltshire countryside to get some pictures of Laurie and Chris together. The barn is well positioned for Marlborough and Swindon and the M4 yet is set in an idyllic location with absolutely nothing surrounding it except rolling countryside!

With speeches before the meal we stayed to capture them before leaving everyone to enjoy the rest of the day. Laurie and Chris also had the great idea of asking those with tents to camp over in the grounds surrounding the barn. There was a great selection of tents there but none as cool as the tent Laurie and Chris had for the night, a bell tent lent to them, complete with chandelier, by my sister-in-law.

Laurie and Chris are now on their honeymoon in Venice but here is a sneaky peek of some of the images from their big day.

Laura and James’s #wedding @stokeplace

It’s been a while since I have worked at Stoke Place but it’s certainly one of my favourite Buckinghamshire wedding venues and only a stones throw from London. It was a real pleasure to work there again as it’s a great location to have a wedding reception. The grounds are wonderful with established parkland and a lake for the guests to enjoy the reception and pretty splendid for great wedding photography too!

The interior of this Queen Anne Manor House retains all of its old charms and features, updated with handpicked modern designer pieces giving you great backdrops for your wedding photography should the weather turn.

Laura and James’s wedding was great fun with a few moments that still make me chuckle…. Those that were there will know what I mean!

I have just posted a selection of images onto my Facebook page here so Laura and James can have a sneaky peek whilst on their honeymoon.

Here are a few of my favourite images from the day…..
