Helen & Will – A Sneak Peek

Last Saturday we woke to sunshine for Helen & Will’s wedding in Ewelme & Roke near Wallingford.HWM-LORD1603-95

Kiti was taken to catch up with Will & the guys at The White Hart in Nettlebed whilst I photographed Helen & her bridesmaids getting ready at her family home in Ewelme.

HWM-LORD1385-42 HWM-LORD1386-43 HWM-LORD1389-44The wedding was held in the historic church of St Mary the Virgin in Ewelme so I was able to make the short walk to the church from Helen’s family home in readiness to photograph the brides arrival. She had the most beautiful car, I see a lot of wedding cars but this really was something different. A vintage Rolls Royce in silver apparently it was never painted, this was the original finish. The way it reflected the light was beautiful.HWM-LORD1459-55 HWM-LORD1462-56It was now time for Will to see his bride & for a beautiful service in the church.

HWM-LORD1502-64

HWM-LORD1546-77They walked out to a flurry of confetti & the smiles of their friends & families.

HWM-LORD1656-107 HWM-LORD1668-110 HWM-LORD1675-111 HWM-LORD1679-113Just next to the church was a lovely cloisters with beautiful gardens. It was a fantastic place for some lovely shots of the two of them together. We also stopped off a couple of times in the lovely village of Ewelme for some more shots.

HWM-LORD1828-141 HWM-LORD1842-145 HWM-LORD1876-152

Helen & Will’s reception was held in a marquee at a fantastic pub called The Home Sweet Home in the nearby village of Roke. Everyone mingled outside in the sunshine before it was time for everyone to join Helen & Will for the wedding breakfast.

HWM-LORD2302-254

After a lovely meal & some great speeches we took Helen & Will off for a few more shots down a country lane.HWM-LORD2450-304

Then it was time for their first dance & for every to hit the dancefloor!

HWM-LORD2588-329 HWM-LORD2604-331 HWM-LORD2616-333 HWM-LORD2648-340Congratulations Helen & Will. Hope you enjoy your sneak peek! Wishing you eery happiness.

Jane & Andy – A Sneak Peek

Last week we travelled into Oxford for the wedding of Jane & Andy.111-JAG-ML-LORD0271-80The weather as we set off wasn’t great but we had great hopes of it clearing as the day went on. We had reccee’d the venue a couple of days before & had worked out the logistics. When doing any wedding, but particularly in a city centre, it is really important that we have worked out how to get from a to b. To make sure we are there to capture all the important things that happen & not trying to park the car!032-JAG-KS-IMG_0047-7We were dropped off at Rhodes House, which is a hidden delight right in the middle of Oxford. It looks rather like a large Cotswold Manor & has some fantastic architecture. It has been a gathering place for Rhodes Scholars for many years but is now available for weddings.115-JAG-ML-LORD0284-84Kiti & I met with Andy the groom & his best man Nick. We used the fantastic architecture of the building get some original photos of Andy before his bride arrived.038-JAG-ML-LORD0091-30By now the guests were gathering & it was time for the bride to arrive. Jane arrived with her Dad in his beautiful MG, especially restored for the day & I managed to capture a shot as Dad zoomed past – I love the proud smile on his face!JAG-KS-LORD0151-1The ceremony was lovely in the beautiful Jameson room in front of the large windows.028-JAG-ML-LORD0073-22After the service we went into the gardens, which were beautiful to do some stylish shots of the bride & groom.168-JAG-ML-LORD0537-130Now it was time for Kiti & I to join the guests on the bus to make the short hop to The Cherwell Boathouse to await the bride & groom. Due to the weather, earlier in the day Jane & Andy thought they may be arriving by car but it was great that the weather had improved enough that they could arrive by their preferred method of transport…….a punt!217-JAG-KS-IMG_0385-51After a drinks reception on the banks of the Cherwell it was time for the guests to join Jane & Andy in the marquee for the wedding breakfast & speeches.

We hope you enjoy your sneak peek Jane & Andy. Wishing you every happiness!

Beth & Chase – A Sneak Peek!

It’s not everyday you get to photograph a cowboy wedding It was with much excitement that Kiti & I travelled to Montana…..sorry Beckley in Oxfordshire to photograph the wedding of Beth & Chase.BCH-ML-LORD8460-355

I dropped Kiti off with Chase & family at a lovely cottage they had rented for the duration of their stay from Oxford Country Cottages in the nearby village of Noke. She got some great shots of Chase & his groomsmen in their all-American outfits of cowboy boots, wrangler jeans & tweed waistcoats all topped off with big shiny belt buckles & stetsons. I love the timeless, Butch Cassidy feel of the black & white & de-saturated shots that Kiti took.

BCH-KS-IMG_1729-13 BCH-KS-IMG_1817-29

Meanwhile I was at Beth’s childhood home which was a buzz of activity with 2 x bridesmaids, 7 flower girls & family. I love this moment of the day where I photograph the bride preparing to meet her groom.

BCH-ML-LORD7060-42I also take the opportunity to photograph the flowers in detail whilst they are fresh. Beth’s flowers had been arranged by the wonderful Green & Gorgeous near Wallingford. They grow a stunning range of flowers for weddings which they arrange in a wildly wonderful garden and hedgerow style. I thought the flowers they did for Beth were beautiful, a wonderful arrangement with some lovely, unusual flowers. They fitted with her day perfectly.

BCH-ML-LORD7001-28

Beth & Chase’s was slightly different to the standard wedding day & everything was expertly organised by the fantastic Jeni from Vanilla Rose Weddings. They were already legally wed in Montana so they would be having a blessing in Beckley church. So before the blessing, with no bad luck to worry about, they met in Beth’s parents garden next to the church & I was there to capture their ‘First Look’. We also took the formal, group shots in the garden & then together we all made the short walk to the church.

BCH-ML-LORD7145-60
BCH-KS-IMG_1952-41

BCH-ML-LORD7278-80

As it was a blessing Chase walked Beth up the aisle to take part in the service together. After the service Beth & Chase walked down the church path to a flurry of confetti & along with their guests walked to the marquee for afternoon tea.

BCH-ML-LORD7574-147

The marquee was positioned in a field looking over beautiful countryside & was decorated in a quintessentially British way with bunting & mismatched china.

BCH-ML-LORD7629-155

The afternoon tea was supplied by the wonderful Chipping Norton Tea Set. They specialise in vintage weddings & not only do they supply beautiful vintage china & table linens but they also do the catering too! They had a beautiful ‘naked’ wedding cake adorned with fresh fruit & flowers by Cake by Rachel.

BCH-ML-LORD7878-230

After the afternoon tea it was time for Kiti & I to take Beth & Chase off for their bride & groom shots. Beckley is a picturesque Oxfordshire village with lovely honey coloured Cotswold stone cottages & provided lots of lovely backgrounds. The sun was even shining in that lovely soft late afternoon way…..& a horse even came along to join in with the shoot!

BCH-ML-LORD8392-349 BCH-ML-LORD8411-350

It was now time for Beth & Chase to rejoin their guests for their first dance.

BCH-ML-LORD8518-363

Rather than the usual disco or band Beth & Chase had a live band performing country dancing with a caller shouting out the moves. It was great fun & everyone joined in.

BCH-KS-IMG_2898-139

BCH-ML-LORD8538-368 BCH-ML-LORD8753-416 BCH-ML-LORD8822-427

Hope you enjoy your sneak peek Beth & Chase back in Montana. Lots of memories of a very British summers day….& lots more to come!

BCH-ML-LORD8275-333

Wishing you every happiness for your future together. Should we ever find ourselves in Montana perhaps you could teach this Cornish photographer how to be a cowboy?

Paul & Samantha – A Sneak Peek

Recently Kiti & I travelled to a venue new to both of us for the wedding of Paul & Samantha. Their wedding was held at the lovely Manor by the Lake near Cheltenham. I photographed Paul’s sister Louise’s wedding a few years back & she reminded me that was nearly ten years ago! Since then I have photographed various family shoots for them too so we have stayed in touch. I was really pleased to be asked to photograph Paul & Samantha’s wedding.

245-PSR-ML-LORD5518-172

Manor by the Lake is a characterful manor house with fabulous period features & is surrounded by lovely gardens perfect for drinks reception & stylish bride & groom shots.

239-PSR-ML-LORD5489-168

I started the day with Samantha & Kiti with the groom & ushers. The rooms at Manor by the Lake are elegantly decorated in neutral colours & silver. With lovely natural light these are photographers dream offering uncluttered backdrops for some stylish getting-ready shots.

011-PSR-ML-LORD4544-7 059-PSR-ML-LORD4662-37Whilst I was with the bride & the bridal party Kiti was with the groom & ushers. She used the period features of the arches on the outside of the manor for some fabulous shots with Paul & the boys.

058-PSR-KS-IMG_1040-22

Now it was time for Paul to see his bride. As he nervously waited his bride walked into the sun-bathed ceremony room. After a lovely service with readings from Samantha’s Mum & bridesmaid Shanti it was time to celebrate!

140-PSR-KS-IMG_1189-49

As their guests mingled Kiti & I took Paul & Samantha off for some bride & groom shots. We wandered around the grounds using some lovely garden backdrops as well as the architecture of the building.

207-PSR-ML-LORD5307-146 249-PSR-ML-LORD5539-175

Paul & Samantha then joined their guests for the traditional wedding breakfast & speeches.

323-PSR-ML-LORD5717-227 351-PSR-ML-LORD5759-249

After the speeches it was time for Paul & Samantha to hit the dance floor…followed by their guests! As always after capturing some dance floor action Kiti & I wound our way homewards.

Emma & Jonny – A Sneak Peek

Recently Kiti & I photographed the wedding of Emma & Jonny at the beautiful Nether Winchendon House near Thame.

211-EJC-LORD3938-165

We started at the church in the village & captured images of the groom greeting the guests before the bride’s arrival. The bride arrived at the church in a vintage Bentley, actually the groom’s own car which he had reluctantly sold but it was loaned back to him for the day.

054-EJC-LORD3230-42

036-EJC-LORD3172-28After a lovely service in the beautiful church the bride & groom made the short walk to Nether Winchendon House followed by their guests.

090-EJC-IMG_0268-23 134-EJC-LORD3433-97

Whilst their guests mingled at the drinks reception with delicious canapés from Feast Events based in Marlow Kiti & I took the Bride & Groom around the grounds for some stylish couples shots. Nether Winchendon House has lovely grounds & offers some great backdrops. When booking Nether Winchendon House you have exclusive use of the grounds so it was lovely & peaceful & we got some lovely shots of Emma & Jonny…..& his beloved Bentley!

188-EJC-LORD3785-147 204-EJC-LORD3884-160 208-EJC-LORD3893-162

It was now time the couple to rejoin their guests at The Carriage Barn for their wedding breakfast. After some fantastic speeches & much laughter it was time for cutting the cake.

Lora & James – A Sneak Peek

Kiti & I photographed the wedding of Lora & James at Milton Hill House, Steventon near Oxford. Now, as a wedding photographer it is always lovely when the sun shines & it is even better when the wedding ceremony can be outside.

284-LJA-ML-IMG_1750-190

We arrived at the venue & I popped straight upstairs to find the bride. Lora was preparing for the day with her parents & five bridesmaids. The bridesmaids all looked lovely in navy dresses with small yellow posies of ranunculus & billy balls tied with stripey yellow ribbons. The bride looked lovely in a simple dress with beautiful tapework, delicate sequins & beading. She carried a larger version of her bridesmaids posies this time tied with navy stripey ribbon & adorned with an initial A for her new surname.

Whilst I was with the bridal party Kiti was with the groom to take some portraits with him & his Best Man, Ushers & family….and the all important ring shot!

028-LJA-KS-IMG_7219-4 060-LJA-KS-IMG_7308-14

As the guests gathered on the lawns in front of a lovely brick built pergola Lora accompanied by her bridal party made her way to meet her groom.

114-LJA-ML-IMG_1113-67

It was such a lovely ceremony in the sunshine & the Bride & Groom made their way back down the aisle with beaming sunny, smiles!

170-LJA-ML-IMG_1213-100

Then it was time for group shots in the grounds in the shade of some lovely trees before I took the Bride & Groom off for some couple shots.

296-LJA-ML-IMG_1813-201

Milton Hill House Hotel is a new venue for me but Lora & James were up for an adventure & we found some really varied areas from Italian sunken gardens to some fantastic barns which gave a textured, vintage feel to the images.

307-LJA-ML-IMG_1890-211

After our adventure it was time for Lora & James to join their guests for the traditional wedding breakfast. Lora, James & their friends & families had decorated the room with touches of yellow & navy from pom-poms to some seriously perfect bunting made by the mums on the back of each chair.

330-LJA-ML-IMG_1961-224 331-LJA-ML-IMG_1963-225 334-LJA-ML-IMG_1970-227

There were great speeches from James & his best man ……but I love the look on their faces during Lora’s Dad, Derek’s speech – priceless & very funny!

370-LJA-ML-IMG_2022-253 385-LJA-ML-IMG_2048-262 405-LJA-ML-IMG_2091-279

After the wedding breakfast it was time for the cutting of the cake & the first dance before everyone hit the dancefloor. Kiti & I left everyone dancing the night away

482-LJA-ML-IMG_2289-328 510-LJA-ML-IMG_2377-352

Congratulations Lora & James – wishing you every happiness. Hope you love your sneak peek as much as we do!

Kind words…..

Its always lovely to hear from happy Brides & Grooms & recently we heard from one of our couples who were married earlier in the year. We always send our couples a feedback form after the wedding as we are always looking to improve our service & their feedback is invaluable.

Claire & Richard were married at Somerton followed by a reception at The Tythe Barn, Launton.

‘Very friendly & professional, excellent communication, very unobtrusive on wedding day & stunning photos!…’

‘…Thank you so much for our beautiful wedding photos – we were very impressed by the professional service & unobtrusive style & would definitely recommend you to others!’

Keep an eye out on our website for the new added testimonials page coming soon!

Alex and Marie – A Sneak Peek

The day shone bright & clear the morning of Alex & Marie’s wedding as Kiti & I headed up the M40 to The Tythe Barn, Launton near Bicester.

AMB-ML-IMG_0494-109

The Tythe Barn is one of my favourite venues whatever the weather but it really comes into its own when the sun is shining & people can use the outside space.

AMB-ML-IMG_1032-243 AMB-ML-IMG_1025-241I met with Marie at The Nook to get some shots of her, her closest girlfriends & her Dad & Brother. I took the opportunity to get out in the sunshine & took some lovely photos in the hidden courtyard.

AMB-ML-IMG_0118-24

The light was lovely & Marie looked beautiful with her short style dress with lace overlay. I love the shock of colour from her bouquet which contained freesia, ranunculus, anemones & one of the funkiest of flowers craspedia otherwise know as billy balls or billy buttons.

AMB-ML-IMG_0134-29

After the short walk through the garden to the barn it was time for Alex & Marie become husband & wife.

AMB-ML-IMG_0214-45

They left the barn in a flurry of confetti.

AMB-ML-IMG_0312-81These are one of those moments as a photographer that you only have one chance to nail it. You can’t really say just as everyone has thrown their fistful of confetti ‘Excuse me can we try that again!’ I am really pleased with this shot, great expressions, fantastic flurry of confetti & I love the sun flare across the lens.

After the ceremony Kiti & I took the bride & groom off for a few shots around the grounds – always a nice time for the bride & groom to take a moment from the madness of the day.

AMB-ML-IMG_0452-100 Once the lovely couple returned to the barn it was time for them to re-join their guests as the celebrations continued…….including a drum solo from the groom!

AMB-ML-IMG_1218-289

We hope you enjoy your sneak peek Alex & Marie. Wishing you every happiness!

Emma & Paul – A Sneak Peek

We’ve had some lovely spring weather recently but we were disappointed to wake up to rain on the morning of Emma & Paul’s wedding. Luckily the rain soon passed & the sun shone on their day. Apparently it is lucky to have rain on your wedding day!

EPM-ML-IMG_8477-200

Emma & Paul’s wedding was in the beautiful city of Oxford & our day started by making sure we had the locations & routes for the wedding as we would spend most of the day on foot.

EPM-KS-IMG_2744-35

I love a classic military wedding & as Paul is a Navy Pilot he was wearing formal ceremonial uniform. Kiti met Paul at the hotel to get some shots of him getting ready before walking with him & the men to the ceremony. There was, of course, a quick pit stop at a pub for a swift drink or two!

EPM-KS-IMG_2684-28

You will notice that a furry friend accompanied the men. Jessie is Paul & Emma’s much loved dog & she played an important part in their day. She was brilliantly behaved throughout & was a credit to them.

EPM-ML-IMG_8435-195

I went to Emma’s mums house to meet the bridal party & to capture some getting ready shots of the bride & bridesmaids. It’s always a lovely part of the day to see everyone getting into their finery & starting off the day with a glass or two of champagne!

EPM-ML-IMG_7735-55It was soon time for Emma to make the short journey to meet her groom. Paul & Emma’s wedding was held at Emma’s old school St Edward’s in Oxford & the ceremony held in the beautiful chapel in the grounds.

EPM-ML-IMG_7946-93

The quandrant gave me some lovely opportunities for some stylish bride & groom shots & it was really interesting to use the architecture of the old building.

EPM-ML-IMG_8606-216 Emma & Paul had decorated the reception room with wonderful blossom trees that looked beautiful. They really added height to the floral decoration & certainly had a wow factor for all the guests entering the room!

EPM-ML-IMG_8794-236

After the wedding breakfast & speeches it was time for everyone to hit the dancefloor. As always Kiti & I left them all boogying the night away!

EPM-ML-IMG_9417-400

Emma & Paul – hope you love your sneak peek as much as we do! Wishing you every happiness for your future together

Amy & Tom – A Sneak Peek

Wedding season is truly underway at Mark Lord Photography & last weekend Kiti & I travelled to the lovely village of Evenley in Northamptonshire for the wedding of Amy & Tom.

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

Kiti started her day with the groom at his family home in Evenley & I was with the bridal party getting some preparation shots before making the journey to the church. Its always an exciting part of the day & I always love the moment that Mum & Dad see their daughter in her wedding dress.

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

I love this shot of Amy & her Mum enjoying a moment before she walks into church on the arm of her dad.

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon After a lovely service we made our way to Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon near the border of Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire. The barn is in lovely countryside & offers some rural backdrops for some great couple shots.

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

Our bride even made a play on her maiden name & wore a bright yellow pair of Hunter wellies around the farm!

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

After a wander around the farm it was time for the bride & groom to mingle with their guests before making their entrance into the wedding breakfast.

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

As always Kiti & I were quite the Cinderella’s & left everyone on the dancefloor!

Wedding Photography Notley Tythe Barn, Long Crendon

Hope you love your sneak peek Amy & Tom, we’ll be in touch with the rest of your images soon!
