White Saturday…

Not content with one Lemongrove event last week I was back in Reading last Saturday to photograph the Todd White event. As popular as ever the gallery was very busy with collectors of his work many of whom got to meet him and many a lucky fan got a characature drawn of themselves by the man himself. Those of you unfamiliar with Todd’s work please click here.

To my surprise he was the illustrator for Spongebob Squarepants, a familiar character for those younger people out there. There were a few children at the event that left with a beaming smile on their face and a Spongebob sketch under their arm.

Here are a few of my favourite images from the event….

…..and the biggest kid of them all…

Official Photographer For The Prince’s Countryside Fund

I am thrilled to have been asked to be the Official Photographer for The Prince’s Countryside Fund after doing some work for them earlier this year. I will now be photographing the projects they have funded all over the UK and look forward to a long and successful working relationship with them.

I will be starting on the projects very soon so please keep a look out on http://www.marklordphotography.me for projects I have worked on. There are many interesting projects from upland farmers on the Yorkshire Moors, hedge laying on Exmoor, community pub on the Norfolk Broads and a project on saving the Hampshire Hog in the New Forest to name a few.

Rural life and its people has always been a big part of my life and much of the inspiration for my photography so you could say I’m like a pig in mud to be offered this work!

A post would not be the same without a picture so I found this in my archives of some pigs in mud!

#Henley Show Photos Coming Soon…..

After an amazing day the the wonderful Henley Show with so much to see and photograph I needed a good rest yesterday! I am now busy working on the images which I hope to have online within the week. Please keep checking back, In the meantime here are a few pictures to give you a flavour of the day…..

Spot the #Olympic Torch as it comes to Henley on Thames

This morning I took my wife to work – it doesn’t happen often but after working all weekend I decided to take things steady today. Also, the Olympic Torch was coming to town so we both thought it would be nice to see that as it’s a once in a lifetime experience.

So off we drove, down through the beautiful Chilterns to a rather buzzing Henley at 8.30am. With the streets and river bank packed with people of all ages it really was a great atmosphere. Unfortunately Becky had to get to work for 9.30 so had to leave me once she saw the first runner with the torch. Lucky me, whose boss had told him to take it ‘steady today’ decided to stay on and catch another glimpse of the torch when it was brought back down the river. I managed to get access on the bridge with a few hundred other people to see a flotilla of boats accompanying Sir Steve Redgrave whom was holding the torch.  Having only my small compact camera I went for the landscape image capturing the atmosphere of the event rather than the press shot!

#Gun Dog Photography – Beaconsfield, Bucks

Here are some of my favourite pictures from the Open Working Test for the Bucks Area of the United Retriever Club held on the Portman Burtley Estate, Beaconsfield on Sunday 20th May by kind permission Mr John Blakeston. The test was a qualifying event to select the Bucks Area team for the URC Area Finals to be held on July 15th.

You have to be pretty quick to capture the labs and retrievers racing about but all good fun and a nice day out in a wood! Lunch was a full blown buffet served in a gazebo in the middle of the woods which was much appreciated after a ‘challenging morning’. By the end of the day I was exhausted but I bet some of those dogs could have done it all again!

Prince’s Countryside Fund charity clay shoot – West Wycombe estate

Earlier this week I photographed a charity clay pigeon shoot for The Prince’s Countryside Fund hosted by Sir Edward Dashwood at his West Wycombe home. E J Churchill put on a superb display of targets for the guests to shoot in the grounds of West Wycombe Estate. After a breakfast served in the hall the 9 teams had an eventful morning shooting in their teams of 4 guns over the various stands. England rugby star Phil Vickery, the new ambassador of The Prince’s Countryside Fund was there demonstrating his sharp shooting eye and support to the other guests and the PCF.

West Wycombe House – an ideal venue for a clay shoot or a wedding!

With teams from various industries that support the PCF competing the final winners were Samworth Brothers and runners up Dovecote Park who had their awards presented to them by Sir Edward Dashwood, Phil Vickery and Managing Director of Waitrose, Mark Price. With other notable figures in the teams it really was a great fund raising event for the PCF and raising awareness to help rural communities across the UK.

Fabian Perez, Marlow

Last Friday I was at the private view for the Fabian Perez exhibition at the Lemongrove gallery, Marlow. The gallery was packed with fans of Fabian hoping to see him and in some cases get him to sign a painting they had just purchased. The gallery was so full I decided to remove my lens shade just to give me a few more inches of space! Well, it goes without saying the evening was a great success and a most enjoyable event. To see more of Fabian’s work at the Lemongrove galleries please click here.

A candid portrait I grabbed of Fabian in front of one of his paintings.
