I can remember taking this shot quite vividly. The bridesmaid came into to room after the bride got ready, looked up at the bride and said ‘you look beautiful’. I love the composition with the mirror reflecting the bride and the expressions on their faces.
When the Major of London came to our home…
Congratulation to Boris for continuing to be Major of London for a second term. These images from a shoot I did with Boris a few years ago when he was MP for Henley on Thames. We were living next door the the South Oxfordshire Conservative office in the lovely market town of Watlington where they are based and I asked one of Boris’s right hand men if I could photograph him for 10 minutes. These are the results of a most memorable shoot with Boris.
Wet Wedding? Don’t panic – your picture will still be fab!
With all this wet stuff coming down its understandable the couples will worry it may rain on their wedding day – I am one of those people, getting married next month myself and wondering how the photos will look if its raining. However in the last 15 years of photographing weddings I have never seen it rain all day long, usually there is a gap in the day when the bride and groom can slip outside with their photographer for some great shots of the two of them together. Above are a few pictures from over the last few years of pictures taken in the rain at weddings. There may not be any bright sunshine but these pictures have atmosphere! So if its a bit wet on your wedding day, never fear, im sure your photographer will be able to get some truely memorable pictures.
In my opinion the best weather for weddings is a bright overcast day with a slight breeze. With a layer of cloud between you and the sun the sunlight will be diffused so no shiny patches and the slight breeze will keep you and your guests cool and even blow that veil a bit for some lovely veil pictures.
All in a good days work…

A little shot to make you smile today. From a session shot a while ago of Monty a Newfoundland pup! Monty is now the size of a small bear and living in Cornwall. His owner walks him on a nearby beach in Falmouth and on one occasion Monty (being a Newfoundland) shot into the water and swam out to a man who was swimming quite far out from the shore. Monty grabbed hold of the man and carefully pulled him into the beach not wanting to let him go. As the man came ashore he was natually slightly disturbed by the incident although quietly pleased the dog had ‘rescued’ him. After an apology from the owner who said ‘he’s a Newfoundland, that’s what they do’ the man proceeded to say ‘but I wasn’t in trouble – I swim out that far everyday!’
Still makes me chuckle every time I see this picture!
Gary Benfield at The Lemongrove Gallery
A great event last night with artist Gary Benfield at The Lemongrove Gallery, Henley on Thames. Gary is an incredibly talented artist painting anything from figurative works, landscapes, beautiful hare studies and great horse paintings too. My pictures do not do the work justice so pop along to The Lemongrove Gallery to see Gary’s work and other DeMontfort artists work upstairs. Details on how to find the gallery are here.
The exhibition of Gary’s work continues to the 11th May
Getting married by the sea?
Getting married in Devon or Cornwall near the sea? Then I would love to hear from you. I’m looking to build my coastal wedding portfolio and can offer special rates for the right weddings in the South West. Having grown up in Cornwall I know the area very well and love working by the sea. Now, living in Oxfordshire as a successful photographer I would like to photograph up to ten coastal weddings a year to give my portfolio a new direction. Please get in touch to discuss your wedding and to see if I can help you. This is a great opportunity for any couples living in the London area who are getting married in the South West.
Thank you!
