Portrait Of Heston Blumenthal

Today I was photographing The Princes Countryside Fund charity clay pigeon shoot at West Wycombe Park, Buckinghamshire. One of the ambassadors of the fund is Heston Blumenthal, a cookery legend.

I asked Heston if I could do a few portraits of him before we went into the house for lunch and he obliged giving me a couple of minutes. I spotted a small archway on the West Wycombe Estate where the light was great and did a few half length pictures of him, then I spotted this magnificent statue and asked him if I could photograph him underneath it. ‘Of course’ came the reply. Here’s the picture!

I will soon finish the rest of the pictures from today and will post a few on here soon.

#Weddings at Wasing Park, Berkshire

It’s always one of the most wonderful moments at a wedding when the bride and groom see each other for the first time. This sequence of images was taken at Wasing Park in Berkshire where you can choose from a church service in the grounds or a civil ceremony, either inside or outdoors.

I am currently working on my images fro the wedding I photographed on Saturday at Phyllis Court Club, Henley on Thames and hope to put some on my blog soon. The ceremony pictures are really lovely with lots of emotion in front and behind the camera. Old softy huh?

Love a hairy dog? You have not seen anything yet!

Recently I was at a farmers market and saw a lady I knew struggling with her bags. Being a gentleman I though I would ask if she wanted a lift home with her groceries. On taking me up on the offer of a lift I was greeted by this hound of a dog bounding towards me to lick me to death in her driveway. Well, anyone who knows me knows how much I love to photograph animals, namely dogs,  so I could see a great opportunity wagging its tail in front of me.

‘What type of dog is this?’ I asked whist negotiating how to protect the eggs in the top of one of the bags.

‘It’s a Lagotta Romagnolo’ I was told, ‘an Italian breed of dog with her winter coat still on’

I said I would love to take some photographs of the dog and the lady said that was fine as long as it was soon as she was soon to be clipped now the weather has finally warmed up.

So last week I met up with the lady and her dog. I shot a few daylight images in the window as the dog sat in an armchair then we popped to a local field for a few pictures.

Here’s a couple of my favourites…..

One to One #photography training

Last week I spent half a day with one of my previous brides teaching her to use her new camera that her husband had recently bought her.  We had a lovely time tea drinking and walking around Waterperry gardens, Oxfordshire discussing the various modes, dials and buttons that her camera offered with lots of beautiful pictures created along the way.

Sophie left the class much clearer about how to use her new Canon camera and hopefully she will be able to put what she learnt to good use on their little boy who will be putting her reactions to the test!

I offer one to one photography training classes during the week in the local area of South Oxfordshire for anyone who wants to learn how to make the most of their camera. Please email me for more details info@marklordphotography.com

Here’s a little ad I put together to promote this service locally….

Today’s shoot…

Today I did the pre-wedding shoot for Brendan and Heidi who travelled up from Somerset to see me. Their wedding is next month and will take place in the village where Heidi and I grew up in Cornwall and in fact I got married in the same church last year.

I have not worked on the images yet but had to take a sneaky peek and here are a couple of images I love from the shoot. Their companion is Frosty, a retired Greyhound who still has plenty of energy and was great fun to photography. There are plenty more lovely shots to come so please keep an eye out for them…..

Sir Charles Napier Pre-Wedding Shoot

Sometimes my couples have to travel a little further for their pre wedding shoot and last Saturday was no exception. Jonathan and Nicolette flew in from Hong Kong on the morning of our meeting and we met at the renowned restaurant Sir Charles Napier near Chinnor in Oxfordshire. The Charles Napier perches on top of the Chilterns and afforded me some fantastic rural backgrounds for the shoot. Little did I know but Jonathan and Nicolette had been planning their wardrobe for some time and bought new clothes for the shoot before leaving Hong Kong.

I love the contrast  between their bright clothing and the muted colours of the English countryside. Their wedding will take place at Wycombe Abbey where Nicolette studied later in the year with their reception taking place at the Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge.

It’s going to be fantastic!

#Henley on Thames Pre-Wedding Shoot

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting up with Kathryn and David who are getting married later this year in Henley with a reception at Hedsor House. With their love of Henley where better a place to have their pre-wedding shoot than by the river Thames. I’m sure when they booked their pre wedding shoot for the end of March they were imagining drifts of golden daffodils and signs of spring all around. However, due to the weather in recent weeks the daffodils were a bit sparse . I still managed to get some fantastic shots of the two of them using some of my favourite locations in and around Henley.

I’m so looking forward to their big day!
